Hallowizzle

Heyyyy beautynistas, and a good morning to you all!  It's Thursday and we could not be more excited about it.  This week could not have gone by fast enough.  I know I know, I feel like every week is another version of ground hog day where I just wake up and count down the hours until Friday.  I don't know what has gotten in to me, maybe it is because the new show I am working on shoots Monday-Friday which puts me in the dreaded category of a 9-5er.  Who would have ever thought that, considering I have avoided a 9-5 like the plague pretty much since the first day I ever moved to NY.  I mean come on, it is the same thing every day, the same office, the same desk, the same chair...boring.  It is one of the reasons I knew very early on I did not want to be full time in a salon.  Now listen, I get it, it has to be done and I mean no disrespect to those of you out there brave enough for that schedule, but up until now, I enjoyed my occasional random Thursday off.  Nope, those days are over ..for now.  For now, this girl comes in to a studio every day..Monday through Friday, from 8-6.  I have officially been nine to fived.

Any way you are probably sitting there reading this and wondering what got me started on this little bitter rant any way right?  To be honest so am I..but I think where I started was the fact that I find myself counting the days til Friday..yup, yup that was it.  So this week I have been looking forward to the weekend even more than usual, and for very good reason.  Aside from the fact that all anyone at work talks about these days is politics (gross) which makes me bolt for the door every day when I get off anyway, this week I have an even better reason.  I have a very fun weekend planned.  This weekend is my HALLOWEEN PARTYYYY!!  I could not be more excited!

For those of you who know me, you are aware that I love Halloween.  I hate that adults can't trick or treat but I have gotten over that now...kind of.  I still kind of feel like there should be some sort of adult version, like a bar crawl of some sort.  But what do I know.  Anyway (also I feel like I say anyway a lot because I tend to continuously get off track) with the Halloween party quickly approaching, I have found myself talking with people and friends about costumes and who is being what.  The main thing that most of my friends have said to me is that their costumes involve a wig of some sort which they see as a huge down fall.  I mean I get it..the wigs that come with these costumes are 99% of the time synthetic which not only makes your head sweat but also makes the wig absolutely impossible to style or make presentable...until NOW.

I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to keep your weave wigs looking fresh on Halloween this year.  For starters drape the wig securely over a hanger ( make sure to secure it because you don't want it to fall off and catch fire..and here is why).  Boil a pot of steaming water on your stove and hang or hold the hanger above the pot allowing the steam to float up in to the wig.  This will help to smooth the wig out with the heat since using a curling iron is not an option.  The steam also helps with de-tangling and combing so if after your night of costume fun, if your wig is a mess, you can use the same technique to de -angle it.

If you do not have the set up to use your stove for this, then you can also always use the old shower technique.  Hang the wig gently in your bathroom on a towel hook or simply just lay it flat on the sink.  Then simply turn your shower on the highest temperature, close the door, and let the steam do it's job.  I would reccommend letting it steam for about 15-20 minutes.  Now, if you live in NY this isn't a problem because you dont pay for water..but if you don't live in NY and you do pay for water then ..well..I'm sorry.  I guess you will have to decide how important a shiny de-tangled wig is to you ;)  So there are a few tips for your Halloween wigs, and I plan on bringing you more tips through out the next with makeup ideas, hair styles and much more that will help you take your costume to the next level.  So if you have any thing specific that you want to know about, just ask!

I hope these tips help and I would love nothing more than to see pics of all of your Halloween costumes in my email.  I will post and share them on the blog and there may or may not be a prize given to the best costume.  So send them on in.  cassihurdbeauty@gmail.com
