Did You Know??: Hairstyles that are banned by the Army

I have to say, I didn't think the Army was the most laid back group of people in the world....but I never thought that something as simple as a hair style could be restricted or banned.  I guess it makes sense ....well no, never mind I still don't understand it at all.  But according to an article I recently read,  there are specific hair styles and hair accessories that are NOT Army approved.  Check out some of the restrictions below with slight narration and sarcasm included by yours truly ;)

Hair Ties- According to the Army, all hair ties must be similar in color to the natural color of the hair, and this is not for fashion purposes.  They must also not be bulky or visible.  Does that mean bowed hair ties are out of the question???  And by bulky, are they referring to scrunchies??  Because scrunchies are never an option, not ever.  (I'm talking to you Hillary!)

Repeat Offender

Hair Length- There shall be no Rihanna bobs if you plan on joining the army.  Asymmetry is apparently frowned upon and there is an actual rule that states that there can not be more of a one inch difference between the front and back of hair in either direction.  If you are a bang girl, all bangs and fringe must end before the eye brows.  I don't want to cause an uproar but I am pretty sure that a cute slanted bob will probably never be the cause of distraction in the middle east.

Parts:  The only part allowed are parts that are in a straight line from front to back.  No zig zag parts allowed...I am with the Army on this one, the zig zag part shall forever remain in the 90's ..and even that is questionable.

Corn rows-  All corn rows must continue in a straight line and end in a uniform position.  Again, agreed...well played Army.

Hair Devices:  First of all, only the Army would ever use any such term as "Hair Devices".  But in their own words, all hair devices must again be similar in color to the natural hair color of the individual wearing them.  They also specifically state that there should be no claw or banana clips.  (I am starting to think the army is on to something here, banana clips??  Stop it.)

Hair Bulk:  On a more serious note, all hair that exceeds 2 inches from the scalp of the head is consider prohibited.  This has been a huge issue for women of African American decent.  In some cases it restricts women from being able to wear their hair naturally which has caused a huge uproar and has been a very controversial issue.

Loose Hair:  All loose or unkempt hair is absolutely prohibited and must be secured in to and I quote again "a hair device of similar color".  I just can't.

Ladies, if you were ever considering joining the Army make sure you take these rules in to consideration, I say this for the very sake of the future of your hair fashion choices.  A few celebs that will never be able to join the army???  Take a look...

Scrunchy Violation

Hair Device Violation (literally)

Multiple Violations

Corn Row Violation
