Oooh La La...The Secrets to Bridal Lingerie

Hello again beautynistas.  I am in the wedding talking mood.  Maybe it is because I am knee deep in wedding bookings for the up coming season, or maybe it is because everyone around me at work seems to be getting married or engaged.  Either way, it is upon us all.  Today I wanted to talk to you all about something a little more scandalous, so if you are coy or shy you may want to bring your computer, kindle, IPhone, or whatever you may be reading this on..a little closer.  We all know people like to read over the shoulder.

Brides spend so much time picking the perfect dress, not only to feel beautiful for themselves but also to feel beautiful for all the family and friends that will be watching them walk down the aisle.  And this got me thinking.  What happens later that night??  Yes, you know what I am talking about, later on...the wedding night.  What happens when you take that dress off?  What do you wear underneath that will hold you in the dress all day but still be sexy enough for your groom that night.  Come on ladies, don't be shy, your bridal lingerie in my opinion should be just as important.  We all think about it, we all just don't talk about it.  With that being said, I wanted to share with you all a few tips on your bridal under garments and how to keep it comfortable AND sexy!

Here it goes...

1) As I always stress, your wedding day is a special day, but it is your still your day.  Your choice of bridal lingerie should be a direct reflection of your personal style, for many reasons.  One, considering that you’ll be on your feet and around cameras all day, dodging in and out of strenuous conversations with family and friends, comfort is key.   It is absolutely and positively necessary that you choose lingerie you’re comfortable in.  If you’re not the kind of girl who likes tie ups and corsets, then those kind of items may not be the best undergarment for you.  If you are that girl who despises and never really got in to the whole thong thing, then please don’t try to start getting in to that trend on your wedding day.  Trust me, if you are uncomfortable, you will notice, and so will your guests.  Whatever lingerie you wear needs to work for you.

2) Your lingerie also needs to represent your personal style in the fashion sense of it all.  If you are the kind of girl that likes to strut around your groom in loose flowy materials, then maybe have 2 options.  One to wear for the actual event under your dress, and one to slip in to later.  Loose garments do not work well under your dress.  Now, if you ARE the type to get in to a corset, or tie up under garments, then by all means my little freaks find the one that suits you and rock it under your dress.  Quite honestly, these are the types of garments that will best support you through out the day, and carry well over in to the night.  But either way, you want to feel comfortable and sexy on your wedding night.  And most importantly, you want to feel like yourself.

3) This tip is so so important, it is essential that you try on any lingerie you buy with your dress before the big day.  I can not stress this enough.  It is an absolute catastrophe when a bride purchases lingerie and then purchases her dress only to find out the lingerie won't fit underneath or is just simply uncomfortable when worn together.  Many will tell you to buy the dress and take it with you when buying your lingerie, but who wants to lug their precious gem of a dress around and risk it getting dirty or ripped. You should purchase lingerie from a retailer with a flexible return policy and take it along with you while shopping for the dress.  If your lingerie for any reason doesn't work with your dream dress, chances are you will buy the dress anyway and look for new lingerie.  KEY TIP: Don’t be shy to get tips from the dress designer or store about what kind of lingerie would give the best silhouette too.

4) Last but not least, give yourself enough time. Wedding lingerie is not something you buy at the last minute. You want to give yourself time to not only buy the perfect dress but also to get the perfect under garments.  This includes the time for alterations, weight loss or gain, and even custom made pieces.

Now I know this has mostly been geared towards bridal lingerie, but these tips can carry over in to your every day life.  Comfort, the right fit, and sexiness are all things that need to be considered for any under garment on any given day.  As a true believer that what you wear under your clothes is a huge reflection of you and your personal style, these things are very important.  I  believe as a woman, you should always feel great and sexy; and if you wake up and put on that new beautiful lacy bra under your work clothes instead of that thick old frumpy bra, I guarantee that you will walk around with a different kind of confidence.  And confidence ladies, is key.  No one else may be seeing that sexy bra under your clothes, no one else will ever know it's there, but YOU know it's there and at the end of the day...sexiness really stems from how you as a woman feel about yourself.  So invest a little in your selves my friends, and walk around with the confidence you deserve!  Hope this helps brides and beautynistas!  Bring out your inner sexy on any given day, you may surprise yourself!

Booking Your Dream Wedding Stylist

Hello beautynistas, how are we all doing this afternoon?  Being that it is already May (yes MAY, I don't know where the time has even gone), wedding season is in full effect.  I have recently dealt with a lot of brides that are either panicked or over whelmed with the last minute details of their wedding, which sparked the topic of today's post.  Why do brides jump at the opportunity to book a photographer at any cost, but delay and under cut the only people that are going to be responsible for what they look like in those very photos??

Ladies and brides, you can NOT wait until the last minute to book your hair and makeup artists.  Whether it be your favorite salon stylist or a private business like my own (www.youniquechic.net), these people book up fast.  These are the people that are going to be solely responsible for how you look on that very day that you have prepared so far in advance for.  Yet it still seems that they are shoved under the rug until the last minute, while florists and photogs are booked years in advance.  Why why why is this??  With this being said, I wanted to give you a few tips on choosing the proper hair and makeup artists for your special day and how to proceed booking them with in a timely manner.  I have seen one too many brides try to book a hair stylist a month before her wedding, only to have a panic attack when that stylist is just not available.

Here are the go to tips below:

- Research the style that you want to achieve on your big day.  This way you will have an idea of what you are looking for when you meet with your stylist.  You will know exactly how to explain what you want/don't want, and the 2 of you can work together to create the perfect style for you.  If you like the back of one style you see and the front of another, or the lips on one face and the eyes of another, take both pics to show them.  These are ARTISTS, this is what they do, your dream style or makeup application can be created.

- Research different businesses/stylists. This will help you to narrow down who you would like to contact first.  Browse individual websites, pay close attention to reviews and photos.  This will let you know how they are to work with, and show you if they have a similar style to you.

- Book your trial at least 4-6 months before your wedding.  This will give you time to have multiple trials and really narrow it down to your favorite.  This can get pricey, which is why researching businesses is so important.  This is also the step where you can drive yourself crazy, so I would narrow it down to 2-3 trials.  In those individual trials you can try several styles with out having to pay a new stylist each time.

- As soon as you are happy with your stylist, BOOK THEM!  Like I said before, most stylists and artists book up fast, and most take deposits so book them asap.  I would not wait any longer than 3 months up until your date to book, and that is at the absolute latest.

This is YOUR day, it is all about you and you should take the necessary steps and precautions to ensure that your centerpieces don't out shine you at your own wedding.
