We have all been to the salon and had that pushy stylist try to up sell us on product and the most up to date tools and irons. Commission commission commission. I am a huge believer in having the proper tools and products to keep your hair looking and feeling as healthy as possible, but I am also one to tell you what is actually going to be beneficial to you and what you can afford to do with out. Check it out below!
Splurge on a natural boar bristle brush. Natural boar brushes are more gentle on your hair and help to give it a sleek, smooth finish. They also reduce breakage. Natural fibers withstand heat better than nylon bristles and distribute the oils through out your hair more efficiently. This is definitely something to splurge on for the sake and preservation of your hair!
Save on regular day to day combs. Most of you out there are not stylists who need the high end combs that you use millions of times a day. The every day plastic comb will work just fine for your average at home use. The more expensive combs like metal and wood can snag your strands if not used properly. Again, leave the fancier tools to the professionals.
Splurge on a nice powerful blowdryer. Heavy duty dryers cut drying time in half, which cuts the amount of heat exposure time on your hair in half as well. They also are designed for a smoother, shiner blow out and will have your hair looking and feeling healthier!
Save on a basic curling iron. When you try to use the high heat irons at home, that is when accidents tend to happen. We have all seen the video of the girl who burns her own hair off in her own hair tutorial. (and if you haven't, check it out here.) These pro tools tend to get too hot and hard to handle for the average person attempting to curl their own hair at home. I am not saying go buy a Conair iron from CVS, but go to your local Sally's or Ricky's beauty supply store and find something in the middle. Find something that is an average price and will still be less damaging on your hair.
