Happyyyyyy Friday Beautynistas! We made it! We all want a little extra volume in out hair right?? We would all like to think our hair looks like those angels walking the Victoria Secret run ways, no? If you answered no to either of these questions then I would advise you to stop reading right now because I can just not relate ;) No really, stop scrolling because I am about to give you a HUGE not so secret, secret on how to boost some volume in your every day locks.
At Huff Post Live most days I struggle to keep one of our hosts hair big and bouncy all day long. Not to mention that I give her a full blow out every morning AND set her hair so it stays. And every day by 4 PM her hair has fallen flat to her face yet again. It has been my demise. Well last week while scrounging through my closet of hair goodies I came across some old school velcro rollers and the light bulb went off. I have every day since then set her hair in these rollers after her blow out and her hair has lasted all day long!
Now I am not telling you anything new, velcro rollers have been around forever, but I just wanted to share a few tips with you on how to achieve the greatness that they can bring you. First of all you will still have to curl or iron or blow dry your hair in to the style that you want. They rollers don't have heat so they will not style it for you, they will only give you the desired volume. So if you are curling your hair for instance, here is a walk through of how to use the velcro rollers
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1 -Velcro rollers- 3-5 for finer hair and 6-8 for thicker hair (I would use 2 inch diameter rollers or bigger)
2 -Setting clips (you can use bobby pins too but I find setting clips a lot easier, you can follow the link to see which kind I prefer)
3- Heat protector spray (that I recommend for all styling when using heat)
4- Hair spray
HOW TO:
1-Curl your hair in sections as you normally would using heat protector spray with each section
2- take sections like so, mohawk section, 2 triangular above the ear sections and a crown section
3- brush through each section and hold it out 90 degrees from the head
4- wrap roller starting from the end all the way down to the root
5- secure with setting pins on both sides of the roller
6- after 20 minutes or so remove rollers
7- Pip your head over and shake hair out to get rid of any parts left by the rollers
8- with head still upside down spray hair with hair spray
9- flip head back over and wear your rocking volume!
Now again I know this seems so basic, and it is, but I am telling you I have not achieved this kind of volume with anything else other than teasing or hair pieces. The velcro is great because there is no heat so their sole purpose is to add the volume to your hair. If you wrap the roller in directly after curling then this will help to set your curl as the hair cools around the roller. Also holding the hair out 90 degrees from the slcap before wrapping will over direct the hair which is what really adds that volume in there. Try it out guys and let us know what you think! Flat hair be gone!
