DIY Hair Accessories

Ladiessss happy Friday!!  As I stepped out in to this snowy NYC weather this morning that I, A- forgot about and B- wasn't prepared for, my mind started to roam.  (I know, what else is new)...  I first thought to myself how much I wish I had not washed my hair this morning, just for a clean hair day to be ruined by rain and snow.  I then thought to myself that I wish I had some cute hair accessories to put in my hair to spice up the pony tail that I would have worn to hide the fact that I had not washed my hair.  And THEN I thought to myself how many limited choices there are out there for cute hair accessories (which sparked another idea to be talked about later).  And then, when you do finally find a cute hair tie or clip or head band, there is always at least 3 other girls you will run in to that day wearing the exact same one.  SO annoying, the nerve!  So anyway, this brings me to my point and the end of my rant.  Do it yourself hair accessories.  They are so so easy and unique, and here are a few tips to help out...

Let's start with a cute decorated hair tie.  You may be thinking that you haven't seen a bedazzled hair tie since The Cosby Show, or the mid 80's, but I am here to tell you that cute hair ties are back and better than ever.  Especially when you make it yourself.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:-jeweled buttons, beads or gems with a loop attached to back (the type of loop designed for sewing)
-Thin hair elastic (one with the little metal piece is best as this will make it easier to loop through your buttons or beads)
-I also recommend using a hair tie that matches your hair color so the tie doesn't compete with your decorations, unless you want a spunkier one, then that's ok too ;)
Step 1: Pinch the hair tie together so that you can squeeze the hair tie through all three jewels in a row.
Step 2: Once you have them all strung on, take one end of the elastic hair tie, loop it through the other end, and pull tight. This will secure the beads or buttons on and leave room for you to use the remaining loop to tie up your hair!

This is such a cute idea and will add a little spice to any pony tail.  Now I am not saying never buy store made accessories ever again, because we all know we love Forever 21 and H&M's cute finds, but this way you will have some of your own as well.

Hope this helps beautynistas and we would love to see pics of your DIY hair ties!  Now go design you pretty little designers!

Until next time,
xo
