Being that Halloween just ended, and the local CVS on my corner has put out a full on Santa window display that leads me to believe Thanksgiving just doesn't exist to them, it is hard to deny that this year is wrapping up and 2013 is approaching at a crazy fast pace! Which inevitably means, a whole new wedding season is upon us. With that being said, brides are on our brains, and beauty is on their brains. So the question lies..What are the newest trends in hair and makeup for your big day?? Well the answer isn't always simple, it depends on what kind of bride you are, how much of a statement are you willing to make? Here are a few hair and makeup trends for all you bride to be's with a few suggestions on which trend is best for which bride! You are WELCOME!
The first trend I want to talk about is the no makeup-makeup look, also known as the nude look. A huge emphasis is put on the skin so that it appears flawless . The trick is to bring out your best facial features with light highlighting and contouring. The contours though, are to stay natural and warm giving the entire face an appearance of no make up at all. I love this look. Don't be fooled though ladies, this no makeup makeup look does indeed require a decent amount of makeup and is harder than it looks, leave it to a professional. Very clever indeed. This particular makeup trend is best for more of a modern bride with great skin and good bone structure. If you don't have a lot of bone structure, make sure to highlight and contour correctly so that you don't look pale or washed out in photographs.

Moving on to another makeup trend for the up coming year, more of a tip than a trend, but a trend none the less. Focus on one feature! Those days of dark shadowed eyes, a bold lip and highly contoured and colored cheeks are over. Keep it simple ladies. If you are an eye type of girl and like to vamp up the mascara and eye shadow, then do it! But keep a light cheek and a more nude lip. If you were blessed with naturally collagen infused lips, then flaunt them with a bold huge, but then keep the eyes more simple with a basic liner and some mascara. But please, I repeat, please..do not do both. If you are going to go a little crazy on anything paired with your bold eye or lip. do it on the cheeks so that they pop in photographs. This trend is best for those brides who like to wear makeup and wear it on a pretty regular basis, the bride that is not afraid to stand out.

The third and final makeup trend for 2013 is of course, the smoky eye..an unconventional smoky eye however. Every smoky eye is different and the possibilities are really endless. This year put away the harsh blacks and muted greys! The new trend is all about color. So if you love the smoky eye effect but want a more modernized upgrade for your 2013 wedding then try adding in a little color. I am not talking about painting random colors from the rainbow all over your lid, but have a "POP" color. Maybe choose a color that is already incorporated in your wedding somehow like your flowers or your bridesmaids gowns. Or just a color that you love on a day to day basis. You can create beautiful "appropriate" looking smoky eyes using colour rather than darker shades like black. This look is more for the bolder brides that like to make a statement and aren't afraid to play with some makeup!

Now, moving on to hair..Brides have been slowly more often than not ditching the shellacked, stiff up do's and veering more towards lighter and flowier do's. Here are a few hair tips and trends for the up coming year, all of them throwing caution to the wind with their light and flowy feels.
BOHO Chic. Don't feel comfortable with your hair up? So rock it down on your big day. Add some soft waves and volume with a center part and you are instantly a bohemian beauty. This look works really well with another trend of ours for this year, braids. Braids are seen all over the bridal runways. They literally can be incorporated in to any style for that pop of chic, personal style. If you want to go the bo-ho route, pull a Lauren Conrad and braid 2 pieces clipped loosely back on both sides. Then there is the braided head band, and the side messy fish tail so famously worn by Blake Lively. I mean there is really no wrong way to rock a braid at your wedding which is one reason alone that this trend has so quickly taken off and managed to stick around for the long haul. The bohemian/ braided style is for those brides that like to let their hair down, but also know how to look effortlessly stylish.

Retro! Take it back, take it back! Retro looks are all over the place and the hair world isn't any different! Brides are stepping down the aisle sporting finger waves! Now, don't freak out, I don't mean the slicked down, hair gel infused finger waves of the 20's and 30's. I mean the NEW finger wave. This can be worn in a million different ways, though most commonly paired with a low side chignon like in the image. This look is so retro chic and is for that old school bride that likes to experiment a little bit with her look.

Bouffant brilliance! If I have said it once, I have said it a million times. The bouffant is back and it is coming for all you brides. We have continuously seen more modernized bouffants with slightly teased crowns, pulled back in to a simple up do's... but now we are seeing brides shamelessly rocking a classic bouffant and we love it! Again, though it is more of a classic version, it does not mean it has to be sprayed down to a T. You can still keep it light and flowy, with some strands pulled out and wisping freely. This look is more for your statement making bride again, it will definitely turn heads.

Chic Pony Tail! For all you simple brides out there that don't want to spend your whole morning in the hair and makeup chair, this look is for you. It is very simple, yet don't be confused, you will be making a high fashion statement with out even knowing it. This is one of the many reasons this look is so amazing. It is so effortless and thoughtless yet so glamorous and fashion forward. This look is great for a backless or low cut dress.

The final bridal hair trend that we are going to talk about is hair accessories. Brides are going gaga over headbands, clip in broaches, and more. This trend really allows brides to add a little bit of their own personal style to a style that is so universally, well, universal. Depending on what style you choose to wear on this epic day, you can always find a way to incorporate an accessory in to the look. headbands work really well with bouffants or low chignons. Clip in broaches work really well with loose side chignons. There are a million different accessories and a million more ways to make them your own and that is exactly what brides seem to want to do for their up coming weddings!

Again, I think the moral of this bridal hair story is that flowy, wispy, fly away, loose hair is in! There is something about these looks that just screams" this is my day and I am so naturally and beautifully free". All the new bridal looks, whether in this article or not, have such a free spirited feel to them. Replace that firm hold hair spray with a flexible, workable hair spray and let your hair do the talkin' (and the movin') on your special day!
