- Use luke warm water as opposed to hot water when washing hands and faces..and if you can stand it, in the shower as well. Now if you are like me, and wake up from your bed and dash to a hot shower to avoid that cold morning jult, then scratch the luke warm shower and stick with the hands and face. Hot water robs your skin of natural moisture and only ads to wintry dry skin issues.
- Moisturize ALL day long! In addition to the daily morning and evening moisturizing routine, you should be doing it through out the day as well. Now if your make up is already on and you can't lather on your creamy moisturizer without ruining it, try a spray mist moisturizer refresher. You can find them at stores such as Kheils, Fresh, and much more. You simply spray these 6-8 inches away from your face, then just let it set and dry. 2 seconds, done and done!
- You want to make sure you are exfoliating twice a week. Exfoliation helps to remove dry skin from your face allowing your moisturizer to penetrate fresh clean skin and sink in to your pores easier. A nice gentle at home remedy for exfoliation is to apply extra virgin coconut oil on a freshly cleansed face. You will then massage it in to your skin with a wet warm wash cloth. This will help to exfoliate and moisturize at the same time. The rough texture from the wash cloth will exfoliate as it rubs the coconut oil directly into your face.
- Ditch the dry bars of soap. Soaps tend to dry your skin out on a normal day, so it is not best to be using facial soap bars in the colder months. Try to stick with a creamier cleanser, preferably ones that contain glycerin or petrolatum.
- If you try all of these things and are still battling that dry skin you may have to take more drastic measures such as avoiding the tap water. Heat up bottled or distilled water to use when washing your face. This will help to prevent any drying minerals or chemicals that could potentially be in tap water, from having access to your face.
I hope these tips help you guys get through the next few months. And as always, if you have any thing that has worked for you at home, please do share! Until next time ladies and gents... :)
xoxo
