Rain Rain Go Away Come Back...NEVER!

I don't know where all you beautynistas live, but for those of us who live in NYC, we have been getting slammed by rainy, nasty, muggy weather. Ugh it has me in a mega funk.  I wake up every morning dreading the thought of getting out of my warm cozy bed, but when it's raining it makes it even worse. Not to mention the toll it takes on your hair.  I mean this morning for instance, I woke up and curled my hair only to step outside in to this mess. What's the freaking point of even trying??  Oh right, there's that little thing called work and that other little thing called "me being single", so rolling out of the house looking a mess isn't really an option.  So, I wanted to share with all of you tips of a style to rock on days like this.  Let's face it we can't call out of work for a "bad hair weather day" (or can we?) so we need to figure out something right??

Lucky for us, the high messy top knot is a HUGE thing right now.  Like huge!  It can be worn several different ways.  The most common way is to slick your hair back in to a high pony tail, almost right above the crown of your head.  Secure that with a pony tail holder.  Then twist the ends gently, and simply wrap them in to a bun or knot.  Secure that knot with another hair tie or bobby pins.  I find that a hair tie works best as bobby pins tend to give headaches if they are worn that high on your head.  Also, the hair tie will secure the knot all the way around.  If you are one of those ladies stuck blessed with fine, thin hair like myself, tease the ends gently before wrapping the knot. It helps, I swear.

Now if you are someone that doesn't like your hair totally slicked back you can make it a little messier.  Tease the hair at the root BEFORE brushing it back in to the pony tail.  There is no real correct way to do this, just tease the root around your head.  This will help to prevent the hair from being slicked against your head and give the illusion of thicker hair.  Once it's up, BEFORE you twist it into a knot, gently use your fingers to piece out wispies to give yourself that "fly away" effect.  This is such a chic look and I have slowly seen the women in my studio rock it more and more often.  This knot tends to look especially awesome with a nice blazer and some rockin' earrings.  Let us know if it works for you and we would love to see pics of you rockin' the knot!
